Craft Bomb 11th of May

Welcome to the voluntary arts week craftbomb

Voluntary Arts are planning a top secret campaign to launch Voluntary Arts Week with an explosion of colour and creativity!

The Voluntary Arts Week CraftBomb is the most ambitious craft project to date by Voluntary Arts. The idea is that people involved in any artform - from knitting and crocheting, basket weaving to bunting making - will target key areas in their local town, city or village, and on a set date go out and decorate statues, trees, park benches, lamp posts etc in colourful creations!

What you decide to target depends on where you live and your art form, all work should be temporary and easy to install/take down. An important part of the project is the element of surprise. The idea is that an unsuspecting public will awake from their slumber, on the first day of Voluntary Arts Week, to a sea of colour covering the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Who can get involved in voluntary arts week craftbomb?

Anyone and everyone!

Whether you're part of a group, a crafty individual or a venue looking for creative makeover, the craftbomb is for you.

What is voluntary Arts Week?

Voluntary Arts week takes place from 11-19 May and it is an annual celebration of amateur art and crafts. The event is promoted by Voluntary Arts but is run by you - the arts and crafts groups and individuals who take part in cultural activities all year long.

There are lots of ways to get involved, whether you're an arts and/or craft group looking to promote your activities or an individual looking to take part in creative projects happening near you. To find out more visit www.voluntaryartsweek.org

Falkirk Camera Club Exhibit

Falkirk Camera Club
Falkirk Town Hall on now till the 10th of May 2013

Another successful season for Falkirk Camera Club is coming to an end with the weekly meetings finishing in mid April. The club will still be active over the summer.

An exhibition of some 20 prints representing a cross-section of the club members' work is currently being held in the Falkirk Town Hall Gallery next to the Studio and will run until the 10th May. An additional chance to see the club's output can be seen in the High Street Gallery in the old Littlewoods store between the 22nd April and 4th May and later in August.

We are also active in the upcoming Tryst Festival, where again in conjunction with the Falkirk Writers' Circle, we are jointly putting on a 'Talking Pictures' show on Friday 17th May. The format consists of Falkirk Writers' Circle selecting Falkirk Camera Club photographs, which inspire appropriate prose or poems. The photographers also discuss the reasoning behind the taking of these specific photographs. It is an entertaining evening with a a blend of the humorous and poignant. Tickets are available at the Tryst Festival ticket office at the Steeple or at the door on the night.
The club also hope to take part in the local Voluntary Arts Week ( 11th - 19th May).

In addition club members will take part in both weekend and Thursday evening photographic outings during the summer months.

If interested in photography at any level, please refer to our website ( www.falkirkcameraclub.co.uk ). Our new season begins in September and you will be most welcome to join Falkirk Camera Club.
